PLUG VALVES

Crossley Economy flush bottomTank Plug Valves are designed around standard components and are fabricated to meet the special requirements of our customers in the Chemical and Processing Industry. These Valves are used as tank discharge Valves and as "in-line" Process Valves offering these features:

  • Fabricated Plug Valves using standard components, allowing for special design criteria and reduced delivery time.
  • Fits flush with the bottom of the tank, eliminating the pocket at the outlet pipe, which traps unprocessed materials.
  • Manufactured from carbon steel, stainless steel, nickel alloys and other weldable metals.
  • Available with Extending Plug or Receding Plug design.
  • Hand Wheel, Pneumatic and Hydraulic cylinder actuators available.
  • Valves may be Plain or Jacketed.
  • Valves are available from 1" to 12"
  • Standard working pressure is 150 psi; 300 psi available.
  • Standard Valves designed to bolt to 150 lb. flanges, 300 lb. and 600 lb. flanges available.

Our design allows for a tapered metal to metal Plug and Seat, with the Plug "floating" on the Valve Stem allowing for a seal to the mating taper of the seat. Wearing of seals or packing is not a concern with our design.

A Receding Plug design allows the Valve Plug to recede into the Valve Body in the open position. This design is particularly useful in vessels which have an internal mixer blade.

The Extending Plug design can be used when no mixing blade is present inside the vessel. This design is also desirable if material in the tank tends to "set-up" or "crust over". The extending plug will break through and allow material to flow. The special plug shown is coned shaped to be even more effective in this situation.

Our Valves can be built to accommodate the nozzle length of your vessel. The valve shown here has a very long Seat, allowing the Plug to be flush to the bottom of a Vessel operating at high temperature. This long "K" dimension keeps the Valve Body and Controls out of the high heat zone.
